Rare 19th-C Literary Game Cards of Famous Authors with Original Box. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class. 5" x 3.75" x 1" (cards 3.5" x 2.5").This delightful item contains 69 game cards featuring the etched or photogravure likenesses of some of the most famous authors of the day. The original box, of red cardboard and paper, is in fair condition for something dating to around 1870. (There seem to be some later playing cards from the early 20th century mixed in, with photogravure portraits of, say, Joseph Conrad and Rudyard Kipling.) There are no instructions, and the rules of the game are lost. But each card is a wonderful image, and the original colored box is very appealing. A perfect gift for the avid reader or student of literature! Unique, and I have not seen another exactly like this (only later iterations). You'll never find another one like this! 0, including shipping.
