Description
If your car is 12V and you want to use your original 6V semaphores, connect this resistor in the circuit. Your semaphores will then see exactly the same voltage as if your car was still 6V. I've taken care of all the calculations with Ohm's law so you don't have to.Here's what you get:
Aluminum heatsink
High power resistor
Two small mounting screws
Two 16AWG leads
The leads are soldered to the resistor's terminals, then covered in heatshrink. The ends of the leads are tinned so they are ready to clamp into your oval or split's wiring connectors or fuse panel. The resistor is bolted to the Al plate with thermal conducting paste between them. All of this assembly is done for you.
I have designed this assembly to be an easy installation. All you do is mount it at the top of the cowl support bracket by the speedo with an M6x20 screw, then connect the wires in the circuit before the semaphore switch.
How to install:
Locate the black wire with the green and white stripe on the forward side of your 4 fuse box by the speedo. Remove this wire and connect one of the leads from this resistor in series with that wire using a single set screw junction terminal. Then connect the other lead from this resistor into the fuse box where you removed the black wire with the green and white stripe. A section of the wiring diagram is included in the pictures above. The resistor's location is indicated by the wiggly line in red in line S4.
