Liquid Worm Castings Concentrate - ORGANIC PESTICIDE - Non Aerosol Pump Sprayer
This product is a very effective organic defense against garden pests with exoskeletons such as many beetles, looping caterpillars, aphids, mealy bugs and red spider mites. An exoskeleton is an external skeleton. It is made of the natural chemical 'chitin'. Worm castings contain the antidote to chitin, 'chitinaise'. When chitinaise comes into contact with chitin it dissolves it. Insects with exoskeletons are killed in a few hours. Use it safely indoors or outdoors, it is 100% organic. It contains no chemicals.
With this product you send a quick blast of concentrate directly on to an infestation such as greenfly clustered on a rose bud. So beneficial insects that may be around are not affected by the treatment. When testing this product we found a Hibiscus plant in a garden centre that was heavily infested with mealy bugs. The garden centre owner warned us that it would die and told us to select a clean plant. We wanted to test our organic pesticide, so we took the horribly infested plant. The infestation was so severe it took several applications, but the result now is a beautiful healthy plant.
For severe infestation of aphids (greenfly, mealy bugs etc), simply spray a blast of the concentrate directly on to the infestation from a distance of one or two inches. Ensure the infestation is soaked with concentrate. It will be quickly destroyed. However, as they are sap-sucking pests they won't drop off the plants. You can remove them with a small paintbrush or a spray of water. Apply similarly to beetles and looping caterpillars. Whilst aphids will be destroyed quickly, beetles and caterpillars may take longer and require more than one application.
For infestations of red spider mite you will need to treat below the leaf surface. Red spider infestation is evident from tiny yellow spots on the surface of the leaf when the mites suck the sap from below. Treating the surface of the leaf will not destroy the mites. Spray underneath the leaves. The mites may or may not be discernible, but the yellow dots assure you of their presence. Please note that affected leaves will not recover. The aim is to kill the infestation which can spread very rapidly throughout the plant and nearby plants too.
With other infestations such as caterpillar colonies, spray directly on to the infestation from one or two inches, ensuring that it is thoroughly soaked.
Worm castings are rich in nutrients for all types of plants. We offer it here in concentrated liquid form. The worms are fed on dung from dairy cows which in turn are fed on organic vegetation. When the worms digest the dung they add enzymes as it passes through the gut. The result is an organic nutrient simply teeming with beneficial microorganisms. They are dormant until exposed to air or water. Worm castings are known to be a major source of chitinase which not only destroys exoskeleton pests but also fungal infections.
There is sufficient concentrate in the 300 ml bottle for at least 1,000 blasts of treatment.
To protect the bottle in transit we pack it inside a bag containing coconut fiber, which is then placed in a strong outer carton.. It provides a cushion to protect the bottle from damage. Use the fiber as an organic drainage layer when re-potting your plants. Simply place 1 cm loose in the bottom of the pot before adding the potting mix. It will help stop potting mix from leaching away through the drainage hole when you water as well as help prevent insects from infesting the plants roots through the drainage hole.
